WHICH IS THE BEST CEREAL - QUISP OR QUAKE??????

During the 1960's & 1970's, Quaker Oats was producing two cereals that were almost IDENTICAL. One cereal was Quisp which had a "spokesman" who happened to be an alien spaceman, who was cute as a button, but he was also somewhat annoying. A few more important factoids, he had a beanie propeller on his head which allowed him to levitate. He also piloted his personal flying saucer, for the delivery of his cargo of Quisp cereal to Earth.

The Quake cereal mascot would have beaten Arnold Schwarzenegger in an arm-wrestling contest. He was all muscle, which was supposedly developed not by hard work or the use of steroids, they were supposedly created by eating a cereal with a sugar content of 1 million percent.  He was a miner from deep below the surface of the Earth. Quake was later changed to a Australian cowboy wearing a cowboy hat, with the side bent over, in an Australian cowboy style. When Quake portrayed the miner he was "Down Under" the crust of the Earth. As an Australian cowboy he was "Down Under" in Australia.

Quake cereal was in the shape of the letter "Q" and the Quisp cereal was in the shape of a flying saucer. Other than that, they were identical.

Quaker Oats created a competition between Quisp & Quake & allowed the children of Earth to vote on their favorite. The kids preferred Quisp & the muscle bound cowboy & ex-miner went into retirement

If you are interested in purchasing an animation cel of Quisp & Quake standing in front of a tote board with hash marks, which represented votes for each cereal, you can go to this website http://www.tvtoymemories.com/ANIMATION_CEL_1.html. The cel has an original background & was hand drawn by the brilliant people from Jay Ward Productions.

Below is a video of one of the commercials, which used a similar animation cel, to the cel pictured above
