TIM CONWAY IN CONCERT (CAROL BURNETT SHOW 2ND BANANA)
The very funny, Tim Conway will be doing a live concert, on Sunday May 23, 2010. He will be returning to The Paramount Theatre, in Aurora, IL.
He has been to The Paramount Theatre before. His partner on that occasion, was the late Harvey Korman. Conway & Korman would perform their old characters, from "The Carol Burnett Show." On a few occasions, Tim Conway would team up with Don Knotts. Whomever Mr. Conway would team up with, it was always a very funny show.
Don Knotts & Harvey Korman passed away within a two year time span & Conway didn't seem to want to do his stage show anymore. He cancelled a show that was scheduled for The Paramount Theatre, about a year after Korman died.
I met Tim Conway, on two occasions. The first time was in Milwaukee. I found Mr. Conway extremely friendly & personable. He was willing to goof around & make silly comments. I love it when a celebrity takes the time to interact with his fans.
I really shouldn't speak ill of the dead, but I will. Harvey Korman seemed to be EXTREMELY shy. While Conway would be working the crowd of autograph seekers, Korman waited until the absolute last second before the limo would be leaving. He would also leave from a different door & try to sneak into the limo, without being confronted with the fans.
Korman did the same escape routine when I saw Mr. Conway & Mr. Korman, about a year later, at The Paramount Theatre. I really wanted Harvey to sign a photo of Hedy Lamarr's "Hollywood Walk of Fame" star. Korman played a character in Blazing Saddles, named Hedley Lamarr. His character always had to correct people when they called him Hedy Lamarr.
Korman wasn't mean & he was always polite but he seemed to be unable to interact with the fans. In other words, shy. I find a lot of celebrities are a different person on stage compared to their off-stage persona
It will be great to see Tim Conway performing his old characters again. Keeping busy keeps these guys young. Mr Conway will be 77 years young, this year.
A photo of a Tim Conway comic book is shown below. It was from a very short-lived comedy western, named "RANGO." TV TOY MEMORIES has two "FILE COPY" near mint comics. One of the books has been autographed & the other is as beautiful, as the day it came off the printing press
