DICK TRACY - THE GREATEST COP IN THE WORLD
Compared to THE GREATEST COP IN THE WORLD, real life cops are like1st year rookies. Dick Tracy was above reproach. Why, oh why, can't the real cops attempt to be like Dick Tracy? We would all be a lot better off. A honest cop, how unusual.
Dick Tracy was always on the first page of the Chicago Tribune Sunday comics. It was the first comic that I would read, when I was growing up. The Tribune Company syndicated the comic strip, and they made big money off of their relationship with Chester Gould, the creator of Dick Tracy. Chester was from a Northwest suburb of Chicago, specifically, Woodstock, IL.
Many toys were made to promote the Dick Tracy image. One of the items was a toy Dick Tracy crimestopper kit. The kit was distributed by the Tribune Company. Photographs of the different items from the kit are shown below. If you are interested in purchasing the unused crimestopper kit, it can be purchased at TV TOY MEMORIES.
The set includes 1) Fingerprint cards 2) Badge 3) Whistle & Flashlight 4) Summons 5) Criminal Identification Cards 6) Code Breaker 7) Photo of Jo Jitsu & the GREATEST POLICEMAN IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD - Dick Tracy

During 1962, Golden Press published a Dick Tracy Junior Detective Kit punch out set, which can be purchased at TV TOY MEMORIES. The punch-out set is in near mint unused condition.

Hollywood decided to bring Dick Tracy to the big screen. In 1990, Warren Beatty starred as Dick Tracy. The movie had a huge cast of BIG NAME actors, Al Pacino, Madonna, Dick Van Dyke, Dustin Hoffman & James Caan.
The movie did alright at the box office, but the gross was less than expected. It earned a little over 160 million dollars, in the U.S.
An interesting law article, tells a back room story about problems with Warren Beatty's movie contract, between him and a subsidiary of The Tribune Company. Tribune Media Services controlled the rights to Dick Tracy. Beatty's movie contract gave him the right to make a movie sequel, or a TV special. The new project had to be completed within a certain time frame. TMS said that Beatty didn't meet that deadline, Beatty disagreed. A lawsuit was filed but the case was moved to Bankruptcy Court, when The Tribune Company filed for bankruptcy protection.

TV TOY MEMORIES also has several toys from the movie, which are available to be purchased. The items are unused and are sealed.
