During the early 1960's, Jonathan Winters was a standup comedian & he made many successful comedy albums. After tackling live comedy & recorded comedy, Jonathan jumped into the movies. He appeared in, "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World," & "The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming."

Mr. Winters forte wasn't the big screen, he seemed to be far more comfortable on television. Jonathan's most famous television appearance, was playing the role of Merth, who was the son of a fellow "weird" comedian's TV character. Robin Williams played the title character of Mork, on the hugely popular TV show, Mork & Mindy. Mork was an alien from the planet Ork. Children from Orkian parents are born looking old and become younger looking, as time goes by. Even tho the child might look old, the kid is still a kid. Jonathan definitely knew how to act like a five year old & he looked old, simply because he was old, or should I say, older.

When he was professionally hot, he chose to make some "easy money." He became the spokesman for several different products. The most famous product was Hefty bags. He did many different versions of Hefty bag commercials. Jonathan, in the guise of his famous character Maude Frickert, did several commercials for Hefty. He also invented two other characters, one of them was a white gloved garbage man, because with Hefty you will not get your hands dirty. The other character was an anal retentive cook, who has the need to keep all of the nasty food scraps neat & tidy.

I have an autographed FULL box of Hefty bags, with a picture of his character (anal retentive cook) on the front. He signed the box and wrote, "Put Your Stinky Garbage In Here." How COOL is that?
