1966 SEARS CATALOG WITH 12 PAGES OF RIFLES FOR SALE - 3 YEARS AFTER JFK
Sears mail order catalog was a pop culture SUPERSTAR. The company had it's catalog mail order operations headquartered in Chicago. I mention this fact because in the 1966 Sears catalog there were 12 pages of rifles for sale. Only 3 years earlier, Oswald purchased a used rifle from a Chicago sporting goods store. He purchased it by mail order, from Klein's Sporting Goods. Tthe total price for the rifle was $21.45.
You would think that the retail gun laws would have changed, in the 3 years following the JFK shooting. Anybody with the money could purchase an M1 rifle or a cheap used rifle & have it mailed to their doorstep. INCREDIBLE.
Thank goodness things are different now. A little bit different, but not enough.
Below are two of the 1966 Sears catalog pages.
