PENTAGON WEAPONS PROCUREMENT DURING 1950'S & 1960'S SHOULD HAVE BEEN THROUGH COMIC BOOK ADS
It is amazing the number of inexpensive weapon sytems that were available, to a young comic book reader, during the late 50's & early 60's. You would think it might be dangerous to let little kids buy tanks, hand grenades & machine guns. I guess not. If Western Publishing, the parent company of Dell comic books, thought kids could handle a armored tank, or a hand held explosive device, who am I to disagree?
The Pentagon could of saved a fortune, if they had only bought a comic book every now, and then. The comic books were advertising tanks for under $5. I bet the Pentagon was paying a lot more for their tanks. They were getting ripped off.
Maybe they can try and get a refund.
Below are a few comic book ads, for the well equiped arsenal of a typical 10 year old, army reserve member
