KELLOGG'S OK's CEREAL WITH OTIS - WEIRD MAGAZINE AD - ADVERTISING EXECUTIVE NOT THINKING
Below is an advertisement for Kellogg's OK's cereal, which was introduced in 1959. This was Kellogg's ripped-off version of General Mills' Cheerios cereal, which had oat cereal pieces in the shape of an "O". Kellogg's cereal was 100% DIFFERENT, their cereal was was an oat product in the shapes of an "O" and a "K".
The mascot was a giant Scotsman dressed in a kilt. An interesting tidbit, a "real" Scotsman will not wear anything under his kilt. Take a look at the ad and view it with a jaundiced eye. Do you think there is something a tiny bit ODD about the picture, especially since he is supposed to a giant, by the name of BIG OTIS?"
WHAT WAS THE ADVERTISING AGENCY THINKING ABOUT?

The animated BIG OTIS was supposed to be a lot bigger, than the real life actor who portrayed Big Otis. Below is a TV commercial for OK's cereal with a human Big Otis.
There was also a commercial with an animated Yogi Bear sharing the advertisement with a live Big Otis. Yogi literally runs into Otis and thinks he is a woman with a beard. The first few years that Kellogg's manufactured the cereal, Otis was the cereal spokesman, and then Yogi took over the reins. They made the combination animated / live action commercial as a bridge between the two spokesman / spokes-bear.
Around 1962, Kellogg's dropped Big Otis and went with Yogi bear.
