STAR TREK MEDALLION BEING SOLD FOR $100 - LUCKY IF THEY GET THAT MUCH - ORIGINALLY SOLD FOR $7.95 IN 1975
The first time that I ever bought a collectible was from the Franklin Mint. They were producing a line of .999 silver, 1 ounce, coin like medallions, of the Presidents of the U.S. I was naive at the time, I didn't realize that there would probably never be a collectible resale market for those coins. They never went up in price. Thank God for the Hunt Brothers. The Hunt Brothers tried to corner the silver market and they drove the price of silver through the roof. I was able to sell the coins for a few dollars below bullion price, which was a lot more than I paid.
I was thinking of the ol'e Hunt Brothers when I saw this ad, for a solid BRONZE medallion, commemorating Star Trek. A bronze medalion? Couldn't they think of a cheaper metal? Anyways, the medallion was being sold for $7.95, from this 1975 comic book ad. Below is a photograph of the advertisement.

BELOW IS A PRINT OUT OF THE AUCTION PAGE FOR THE $100 MEDALLION. I'M NOT CONNECTED WITH THE AUCTION, IN ANY WAY. I WILL HAVE A LINK TO THEIR AUCTION, FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. THE LINK WILL EXPIRE, APPROXIMATELY APRIL 17, 2010. I'M SURE YOU CAN FIND A NEW LISTING AFTER THAT DATE.
GOOD LUCK SELLING IT FOR $100.
