YOUNG GRANNY SELLING 7-UP IN A 1955 MAGAZINE AD

I love a magazine ad that takes the subject out of their normal environment. Having them say or do something out of character, could potentially hook the reader, and transform them into a customer. In 1955, a grandmother type character would normally be playing the role of a stereotypical granny, doing and saying "little old granny things.". The grandmotherly type of character in this ad, seems to be quite hip for her age.

An even better idea, granny is driving a red sports car, cruising at 120 mph. She could be drinking from the 7 UP bottle, between shifting from 2nd gear, to 3rd gear.

Humor sells product, and granny cruising at 120 mph is funny.

The advertisement for 7-UP was done by an advertising executive who was thinking out of the box. The executive's thinking was ahead of their time. This ad would fit in with an ad campaign for 2010.

Granny is sitting in her rocker, swilling a bottle of 7-UP and saying, "FROM WHERE I SIT - NOTHING DOES IT LIKE SEVEN-UP"
