General Foods produced a new drink in 1957. The drink was not popular when it was first introduced. When NASA started using Tang on Gemini flights, sales of the product took off like a rocket. Kids wanted to be like the astronauts. It was so closely associated with spaceflight, people thought it was invented for NASA. In reality, it was invented several years before manned spaceflight first occured.

I used to look down on the drink. It was a powered drink mix. How good could it be. Surprisingly, it is quite good. I did have to use substantially more mix than the directions suggested. After making it "stronger," I can definitely give it a "thumbs-up" approval rating.
