BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA TRAFFIC LAWS, DURING THE EARLY 1960's - LAW REQUIRES DRIVING ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD?

The last time that I drove in Beverly Hills was around February, 2000. At that time, the traffic laws required myself, and all other drivers, to drive on the right side of the road. The laws must have changed, between the early 1960's, and February, 2000. In this clip from the classic TV show The Beverly Hillbillies, Jethro is driving the family to the Commerce Bank. He is driving on the left side of the road and the other cars are also driving on the left side.

Could it be that everybody was so RICH, the laws didn't apply to them? No, that can't be, RICH PEOPLE ARE NOT LIKE THAT.
