WHATEVER HAPPENED TO CREAM OF WHEAT CEREAL - ORTEGA TACO SHELLS - BRER RABBIT MOLASSAS - JOAN OF ARC BEANS?
I had these Cream of Wheat cereal magazine advertisements and I was doing research on the cereal. I personally hate hot cereals, but there are millions of people who love the products.
I found out that Nabisco sold the cereal to a niche food manufacturer. BG Foods specializes in buying well known, and well loved, food products. They buy the "orphaned" products from companies that want BIG SHOOTING STAR PRODUCTS, and don't want to be bothered with a tiny niche product. The companies are obviously too big to do a good job of promoting a product with small potential sales. The end result, the product dies a slowwwww death. The product lines that BG Foods buys could also be described as nostalgic favorites, among the grocery buying public. BG Foods buys the product line and gives it a little promotion, it then "magically" turns around.

BG Foods has purchased a fine lineup of distinguished products, such as:
ORTEGA FOODS BRERRABBIT Molasses GRANDMA'S Molasses JOAN of ARC Kidney Beans

AND LAST, BUT NOT LEAST, UNDERWOOD DEVILED HAM SPREAD.

I think this is fantastic. The HUGE food companies that used to own these products wouldn't promote these products. It is sold to a specialty company and it is transformed into a winner. American ingenuity, at it's best.
Oh, I forgot to show the CREAM OF WHEAT CEREAL.

The box is exactly the same as the Nabisco box, except that it doesn't have the Nabisco name in the upper left corner.
All of these products can be purchased directly at BG FOODS. They are also available in some grocery stores.
How novel, an American company actually manufacturing something in this country. I wish this company continued success.
One more thing, I decided to buy a can of Underwood Deviled Ham. I never had it before. It was alright, it was nothing to write home about. I guess kids enjoy the product. It just wasn't my favorite. I guess my food favorites have gone upscale:
1) caviar
2) Beef Wellington (medium rare)
3) chocolate covered ostrich eggs
Can you tell that I was being SILLY?
In case you don't believe me, I took a picture of my sandwich.

Now, that is an exciting photo, isn't it? Can anybody say PULITIZER?
