A TRIBUTE TO DON ADAMS - SALESMAN FOR CHEVY, RCA TV, & WHITE CASTLE HAMBURGERS

A lot of actors will try to hide from an iconic TV character that they have created. Don Adams embraced his Maxwell Smart character and did many TV commercials and magazine ads. The advertisements either showcased or parodied the infamous Get Smart TV character.

The magazine ad which is posted below, showcases the stars of Get Smart: Don Adams & Barbara Feldon. They are promoting the 1969 lineup of RCA color TV sets.

Don Adams was also willing to parody his character, as evidenced by the following TV commercials.

The first commercial was for Chevrolet dealers, in Manitoba, Canada. Don is portraying a bumbling character who has a phone call from his wife, on his shoe phone.

The next commercial was for White Castle. Don is dressed in a "strange" blue and white cowboy outfit. The colors of White Castle are blue and white. Don is walking among plywood cows with 5 holes punched out of them. The cows with holes were a joke, based on the fact that White Castle burgers have 5 Holes in them.

The holes are placed in the burgers for faster cooking. The cook doesn't need to flip the burger.

If you are interested, TV Toy Memories  has two unused Get Smart puzzles. They are sealed in the original cellophane. They also have an autographed FILE COPY Get Smart comic book, signed by
Don Adams and Barbara Feldon. For more information, please click on the titles above photographs.
