TELL ME IT AIN'T SO - A COMIC BOOK AD THAT "IMPLIES" SOMETHING IS TRUE - BUT IT ISN'T TRUE

This March 1961 comic book ad is showing an "expensive" binocular, with "high quality" optic lenses, that can be purchased for the huge price of 50 cents. The ad states that the user can "SEE UP TO 18 MILES". Yeah, you can see "UP TO" 18 miles. The ad doesn't say that you can see 18 miles, it says you can see "UP TO" 18 miles. Pretty clever and deceptive ad copy. Probably Larry Tate (Darrin Stephens boss) wrote the copy.

Why not say it can see up to 238,857 miles? Point it at the moon and see the moon 238,857 miles away.
