AM I THE ONLY PERSON THAT FINDS A LIONEL MODEL TRAIN BORING? - IT GOES AROUND AND AROUND - YAWN

I have held a terrible secret my entire life. I have been afraid to admit it, I didn't want to be ostracized by my friends, when I was growing up..  I am bored by model trains.

When I was growing up, I was afraid my parents found out my secret and planned on getting a train set for me. I had a problem with going to bed when I was suppose to, I was never sleepy when my bedtime rolled around. If it was true that my parents knew about my attitude towards model Lionel trains they could use it against me. Every night they could bore me to sleep. They could make me play with my train for 30 seconds and I would be fast asleep by the time the clock hit the 31st second.

Most home railroad sets were a simple oval track. I'm getting sleepy already. Even if it was more elaborate, it still just went around and around. My eyes are getting heavy.

The Museum of Science and Industry, located a few blocks from Lake Michigan, in Chicago, Illinois, had an incredible model Lionel train layout. It was huge and very elaborate. Just the same, it went around and around. I've got to get a box of No-Doz and a glass of Pepsi, I can't keep my eyes open.

On a few occasions, my school would have a field trip to the museum. I love the Museum of Science and Industry, it is my third favorite museum in the world. In case you are wondering, 1) Air & Space Museum - Washington DC 2) Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village - Dearborn, Michigan 3) Museum of Science and Industry - Chicago, Illinois. I would take a casual glance and go off to other exhibits. I mean, at the time, they had real trains at the museum which were exciting. In addition, the museum had and still has a working coal mine and a German WWII submarine. All of those things were infinitely more exciting than a model railroad.

The No-Doz & Pepsi cocktail is kicking in. For the people that are not bored as easily as myself, I have posted an incredibly beautiful magazine ad for Lionel trains, from a 1929 magazine. Magazine ads with model trains don't put me to sleep.

During the the very early 1950s, Joe Dimaggio, "The Yankee Clipper", had a TV show and the sponsor was Lionel. Posted below is a commercial designed to fool boys into thinking that model trains were exciting. I'm not fooled - I KNOW THE TRUTH. I hope you don't fall asleep when watching this video, especially if you are reading my blog at the office.

By the way, have you told your co-workers about my blog? I think they might enjoy it.
