UNUSUAL BUSINESSMAN CLOTHING ITEM THAT DOESN'T EXIST ANYMORE
This 1950 magazine ad depicts an unusual item. A men's dress shirt with a zipper. It has snaps at the collar and the sleeves with fake pearl caps. The company was even able to get a one paragraph article in Time magazine .

In 1952, Morris Kaplan was granted a patent for his zippered dress shirt (patent # 2609542)
I really wanted the false quote, from a former U.S. Commissioner of Patents to be true. It would be a great quote for a story on a zippered dress shirt.
Here is the false quote:
"Everything that can be invented has been invented." -- Charles H. Duell, U.S. Commissioner
In reality, the statement was twisted around and misunderstood, here is the real quote:
"The advancement of the arts, from year to year, taxes our credulity, and seems to presage the arrival of that period when human improvement must end."
