George Steinbrenner the most famous pain-in-the-butt baseball owner has passed away. For a person who loved baseball as much as George, dying on the day of the All-Star game is very apropos.

I feel sorry for Billy Martin, he will be suffering a personal "hell". George will be hiring and firing him for eternity.



George Steinbrenner was definitely a pain-in-the-butt to his manager (du jour) and to the players. He was the good and the bad parts of baseball. His bigger than life personae and the NEED to produce a winner was good for baseball. His need to produce a winner by paying increasingly larger and larger sums of money for a baseball player, was bad for baseball.

The good thing about George - HE NEVER HAD DELUSIONS OF U.S. PRESIDENTIAL ABILITIES, AS OPPOSED TO THE FIGUREHEAD MINORITY OWNER OF THE TEXAS RANGERS (a.k.a. George W. Bush) 

The reason why: George Steinbrenner wasn't a MORON,  but in my humble opinion, "W" is the biggest moron and the most incompetent person to occupy the third floor of the White House. I say person, there have been a few dogs and cats that occupied the third floor who were dumber. Even Millard Fillmore accomplished something. Millard was the first U.S. President to put a bathtub in the White House. Hey, come to think of it, "W" put the country in the crapper. He and Millard are very similar.

Talking about "W",  it has come to my attention, he never paid a penny for his minority stake in the Rangers. He was given the stake so they could claim an "important" figure as an owner. Give a small percentage of the team and get the son of the ex-President. I have said it many times before: IT IS NOT WHAT YOU KNOW - IT IS WHO YOU KNOW. "W" knew NOTHING and he got SOMETHING.

I just thought of it, after leaving the job of a figurehead baseball President he ran for office and became another figurehead.

Getting back to George Steinbrenner, TAKE IT EASY ON BILLY MARTIN. If you want a few laughs, bring Billy Martin, Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb to "W"s mansion in Dallas. Scare the S++T out of him. A few baseballs rolled down the staircase will have "W" in a fetal position, sucking his thumb.
