SUPPOSEDLY, CHEWING GUM CAN SOLVE ALL OF MAN'S PROBLEMS
After reading the chewing gum ad, which is posted below, I assumed it's advertising claims were pure BULLS**T. According to a website that I found, the claims were true - PLUS MORE.
Granted, the website has a bias toward promoting chewing gum. The website is for IGCA (International Chewing Gum Association) and they claim that chewing gum can solve the following problems:

What in the world is XEROSTOMIA?
I checked it out. It is the medical term for dry mouth.
I'm surprised they don't claim it can cure cancer.
I love these old 1950's era ads. The style of the ad and the printing technology made it a classic looking piece of pop culture. This ad is from 1954 and has Phillies "Hall of Fame" pitching star Robin Roberts promoting Beech Nut gum.
I checked Robin's career history, I was surprised to see that his final year in baseball was with my beloved Chicago Cubs. Robin's last year in baseball was with Leo Durocher as his manager. That is probably the reason why he retired. I'm not a big fan of Leo, check out my previous blog post on Leo Durocher .
