HOW COMPUTERS COMMUNICATED WITH OTHER COMPUTERS 48 YEARS AGO - YOU KNOW, BACK IN THE CAVEMAN DAYS
It really seems like the caveman days, almost 1/2 of a century ago. Way back in 1962, Western Electric offered an innovative Data-Phone. The phone still was using a rotary dial, as opposed to touch tone technology. A person on the receiving end would need to answer the phone, and then the people on both ends of the connection needed to punch the data button. By doing that simple act, the two computers could now beep and whistle at each other. In other words, they could talk to each other in computer-ese.
See what passed for high technology during the early 1960's.
48 years later, people can "talk" to thousands of other people via their computers, while using a cable or phone line. Can you imagine what will happen in the next 48 years? Pretty cool to be living in the 21st Century, isn't it?
