CHEERIOS COMIC BOOK ADS, WITH ROCKY & BULLWINKLE HAVE AT LEAST 7 DIFFERENT ADS, ALL WITH THE EXACT DIALOGUE.
What did General Mills have against copywriters? The company contracted with Jay Ward Productions to produce at least 7 different humorous, and child-friendly cartoon ads. The problem is - all of the ads have the exact same dialogue except for 1 or two changed words. The phrases that Bullwinkle uses to answer affirmatively, are as follows: "RIGHT ROCK" - "OF COURSE, ROCK" - "TO BE SURE, ROCK" - "CERTAINLY" - "YEP". I leave the best phrase for last - "YUM YUM".
They probably thought the young comic book readers would never know the difference. Corporate American philosophy - Do Everything On The Cheap Side Of The Street, except for the CEO salaries. They didn't know that a nerd, like myself, would revisit their handiwork 45 years after it appeared in the comic book.
Enjoy the classic dynamic-duo of Rocky the Flying Squirrel & Bullwinkle J. Moose, in these classic Pop Culture artifacts.
Besides changing Bullwinkle's affirmative answer on the different ads. I get a kick out of the minor change that the cartoonist made to the seventh ad, which is seen at the bottom of this post. Typical Jay Ward humor. A minor change that is designed to be silly and funny. They placed the word bubble upside down. It is only appropriate. Bullwinkle is upside down, and that would require that his words would need to be coming out of his mouth upside down. Silliness - personified.
