I ASSUMED THE WORD "CHOCOLATY" WAS A MADE UP ADVERTISING WORD - I WAS WRONG

While watching this Nestle Quik commercial, from the late 1960's, I listened to the characters in the commercial using the word "chocolaty." I always assumed that words like "chocolaty" were manufactured by the advertising community. Take a word like chocolate and imply that it is "like chocolate" but it doesn't have any chocolate in it. Advertising people are better known for talking out of both sides of their mouths than politicians. Manufacturing a word is another example of talking out of both sides of their mouths.

In reality, while doing a little investigation work, I found out the word "chocolaty" was first used in 1926 . Granted, it is possible that a 20's advertising exec used it for a print ad, but it is unlikely. The advertising community just picked the word and ran with it.

For your enjoyment, I have uploaded the commercial, with the adorable Nestle Quik bunny, shivering while drinking his "chocolaty" drink of Nestle Quik.
