ANOTHER INSTALLMENT OF FOOD PRODUCTS THAT DON'T EXIST ANYMORE

In 1966, Minute Maid came out with an extension to their HI-C brand of drinks. It was a can of soft frozen HI-C. You could take one spoonful and make one glass of the delicious and extremely high calorie sugar-laden fruit flavored drink. After placing a spoonful of the soft-frozen 90% non-fruit juice concoction in your glass, and then by filling it with water you would have created  a sluice drink of 10% fruit juice and 1,000,000% sugar (slight exaggeration.)

Ahh, isn't that more labor intensive than simply pouring a glass from a can of HI-C? I guess that is the reason why it isn't on the market anymore.

Here is another example of a sugar-laden food product that bit-the-dust. During the seventies, Nabisco made their version of Pop Tarts. Granted, I'm not a connoisseur of tiny dabs of sugar-laden jelly spread between two slabs of hard crust, (made from a liberal dose of LARD) and then sprinkled with even more sugar, but there seems to be quite a following of Nabisco Toastettes fans. "In The Seventies " is a website that seems to have a lot of fans of the failed product. It seems that Nabisco supposedly made a far better product than the more popular Pop Tarts.

Why is it that people never mourn the loss of fruits and vegetables, or other healthful foods, but they have an incredible memory file of eating crappy junk food? The answer would be a five letter "swear" word - SUGAR.
