During the 1940's, Li'l Abner was a spokesman for Cream of Wheat cereal. Each of the magazine ads that I have posted seems to suggest a few things. Li'l Abner seems to have a blind eye for the BUXOM Daisy Mae, and allows his MAMMY to give him a bath in a rain barrel - VERY UNUSUAL.

It also seems that Li'l Abner has only one true love.

Supposedly, his one and only true love is Cream of Wheat cereal. That cereal has also indirectly saved the lives of dozens of people, with a helping hand from Li'l Abner. Right after Abner eats a bowl of the delicious warm cereal, he magically is able to find the strength to hold up a collapsed railroad bridge just as a train is passing over it. 

Li'l Abner also was able to save Daisy Mae from getting forcibly married to Baboon McGoon. Once again, after eating a bowl of the hot cereal, he was able to find super-human strength, and was able to race into town to stop a terrible event from happening. He had to race to the Marriage License Bureau to stop the wedding of Daisy Mae and Baboon McGoon before it took place. The thing is, according to the magazine ad, Abner didn't care about protecting Daisy from being forcibly carried to the Marriage License Bureau, in addition to, being forced to marry the incredibly UGLY Baboon McGoon. The magazine ad tells us that Abner has a "SPESHEL" reason for stopping the wedding. 

The real reason why he stopped the wedding - In his words:  "Ah Jest Couldn't Let A Thing Like That Happen To McGoon."

Li'l Abner seems to have "issues."
