AFTER FRED MERTZ DIED - ETHEL MERTZ HAD BIG EXPENSES, SHE CHANGED HER NAME AND SOLD MAXWELL HOUSE COFFEE

Ethel Mertz was financially destitute after Fred Mertz passed away. Supposedly, Fred had not been paying income tax on the Ricardo's rent payments, or for that matter, any of his other tenants at 625 East 68th Street. Fred was also, according to the Federal indictment, an absentee slum landlord. He had thousands of substandard apartment buildings spread around the Eastern coast of the U.S. The strain from the Federal trial, and the huge headlines in the New York Times - "SLUM LANDLORD FOUND GUILTY," was too much for Fred to handle. Fred collapsed inside of courtroom #462, and never regained consciousness. Time of death 6:66pm, on June 6, 1966.

Ethel was forced to sell the entire Mertz real estate dynasty. After paying for all of the fines and penalties, she was left with $1.87. She couldn't even ask for help from Lucy. The Ricardo's had cut off their relationship with Ethel a short time before the blockbuster news was revealed.

What was Ethel going to do? Her choice was to end the long nightmare of having an albatross hanging over her head. She changed her name to Maxine and started selling donuts and Maxwell House coffee.

The former Ethel Mertz is currently the oldest living person, at a spry 135 years of age. She saved 25 cents of every $1 Maxwell coffee sale, and invested the money in Berkshire Hathaway, Microsoft, and many other fast growing companies. The former wife of a slum landlord is currently worth 350 BILLION dollars, and is the richest person in the world.

An advertisement for her former Maxwell House coffee & donut business is posted below.

OH, BY THE WAY - IF ANYBODY THINKS THAT THIS STORY IS TRUE, THEN YOU ARE A TRUE MORON.
