THESE LATE 1950's ADS FOR CHEF BOY AR DEE COULD BE DESCRIBED AS "'STRETCHING' THE TRUTH IN ADVERTISING"
The last time that I ate CHEF BOY AR DEE canned pasta was over 40 years ago. For a kid, with a limited sense of what is truly a great meal, it was OK. The meal was quick, and was in reality semi-tasty, as seen from an adult viewpoint. The dining experience wasn't anywhere near the description that the late 1950's advertising executives claimed that it was. These masters of "deceit" tried to imply that the canned pasta was "almost" as good as you would find at an Italian restaurant, located in Portofino, Italy. If that is true - REMIND ME TO NEVER GO TO ITALY.
Posted below are several of the "deceitful" magazine ads. I have also posted a TV commercial with the real Chef Ettore "Hector" Boiardi promoting his canned product. Supposedly, people were raving over the chef's recipes, when he prepared them at his Giardino d'Italia restaurant, located in the American hub of fine Italian dining - CLEVELAND, OHIO. The desire to share his "delicious" creations with a wider audience inspired the chef to package the finished products in cans - YEAH, THAT IS THE WAY I ALWAYS EAT FINE GOURMET FOOD.
Maybe the food tasted a lot better when the production line wasn't cranking out millions of cans of semi-tasty pasta. Who knows, maybe Ettore Boiardi wasn't a phoney-baloney gourmet Italian chef. Maybe at one time his food actually tasted SEMI - DELICIOUS, prior to being (in my humble opinion) corrupted by corporate greed. Anything is possible.

ANOTHER LATE 1950's MAGAZINE AD IS SHOWCASING THEIR CANNED LASAGNA. IN MY HUMBLE OPINION, IT DOES NOT LOOK VERY APPETIZING.

POSTED BELOW IS CHEF ETTORE BOIARDI DOING A 1953
TV COMMERCIAL, SELLING HIS FAMOUS CANNED PASTA.
