TV & MOVIE ACTOR RICHARD CRENNA DIRECTED EPISODES OF THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW - HIS OPINION OF HIS ONE CONTRIBUTION TO THE SHOW
Richard Crenna was a multi talented and capable actor / director. I was definitely a big fan of everything that Mr. Crenna did, starting from the 1950's era, with early television work on Our Miss Brooks, and going up to the 1980's, with the fictional character of Colonel Trautman, on the Rambo series of movies. One of his less famous professional roles was being the director of many of The Andy Griffith Show episodes.
The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has interviewed many TV legends, and has created an archive of the video "remembrances" of the pioneers in TV history. Richard Crenna was one of those that had been interviewed. If you wish to hear the entire hour plus interview, you may click here: RICHARD CRENNA.
A shortened segment (2 & 1/2 minutes) is posted below. Richard is describing his opinion (minimalisticly) of his one contribution to the improvement of The Andy Griffith Show. He also talks about a classic episode that he directed - Opie The Birdman. Very interesting interview from somebody who had first hand knowledge of a classic piece of POP CULTURE TV HISTORY.
