BILLIONAIRE BOB HOPE WAS A SPOKESMAN FOR VAN HEUSEN SHIRTS - COULD HAVE MADE A FEW MORE BUCKS WITH ANOTHER COMPANY

In one of the ads that I posted below, Bob Hope is the spokesman for Van Heusen shirts. Oh sure, the shirts are pristine as soon as Bob takes them out of the package. TWO HOURS LATER - IT IS A DIFFERENT STORY.

The actor / baseball club owner / comedian / company spokesman / real estate investor could have made a few more bucks by being the spokesman for another product. Too late now.

CLOROX bleach brought to you by BOB HOPE

I could see the ad now, the camera zooms in on Bob Hope's long-suffering maid, while she is scrubbing a filthy shirt collar, which has been permanently embedded with gobs of grease, a.k.a. ring-around-the-collar. Bob laughs and quips "I guess that I sweat a little." The maid looks up and starts to grab a meat cleaver. Bob is seconds away from being chopped up for the evening meal. As if by MAGIC, the Announcer's voice speaks up to save the day. The announcer states: "CLOROX bleach will solve all of life's little problems - TRY IT, PLEASE." The next scene shows a smiling maid hugging Bob, while still having the cleaver safely tucked away in the pocket of her apron, to possibly be used for the next annoying quip from her employer.
