Desi & Lucy are promoting Sanka coffee, during an I Love Lucy commercial break. The commercial was a barebones (aka cheap) TV ad. The two TV stars were standing behind a small table, which had a jar of Sanka sitting on it. The selling power of Desi & Lucy was more than enough to get their legions of fans to try the incredibly yucky drink (I can't stand coffee.)

Lucy tells her husband that Sanka commercials are always done with a closeup on the hands of the actor. Desi replys, "Why do you think I had three manicures today?" The camera then zooms in and shows the fists of the Cuban bandleader. Desi opens his fists and procedes to use his finger to give the international signal to come here - a curled finger, which is moving back and forth.

Even tho he probably isn't doing anything wrong with his use of a innocuous hand gesture, it really is funny to see a HUGE CLOSEUP of Desi's finger suddenly being pointed at the viewer.

Who knows, maybe that curled finger is the Cuban version of THE FINGER.
