I BET YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT DRAGONS WERE CLOSE FRIENDS WITH DOGS.
The star of Kukla, Fran & Ollie was the corporate spokes-dragon for a line of dog food that Swift & Company used to manufacture. Oliver J. Dragon was the cute and cuddly star of Kukla Fran & Ollie TV show, and was also a beloved friend to millions of 1950's era children. He obviously must have also been beloved by millions of 1950's era dogs, mainly because of his ability to communicate with "Man's Best Friend," or should I say, "Dragon's Best Friend."
According to the advertisement, the talking dragon used to have intimate chats with his canine friends. The mutts would tell the dragon that they preferred Pard Dog Food to other brands of dog food. What a coincidence - Pard Dog Food was reporting those facts, which were inside the advertising copy for their dog food ad. Will wonders never cease?
