HOLLYWOOD SQUARES HOST SUPPOSEDLY COULD HAVE BEEN DAN ROWAN (LAUGH-IN HOST)

Being a game show host is probably the best job in the world. Approximately 10 episodes are taped over a two day period, and then during the following two weeks you can sit back and complain about the HIGH TAXES you are forced to pay, for all the hard work that you are forced to endure.

Peter Marshall is shown below in a TV commercial for Kellogg's, just prior to his Hollywood Squares  job.

Supposedly, Dan Rowan (future-to-be host of Laugh-In) was also considered for the same game show host job.

For your entertainment, I have also posted a two-page ad that Dan Rowan & Dick Martin did for Breck hair shampoo. I have no idea why there is a connection between Laugh-In and the hair product.

In the ad, Mona Lisa claims to be a "Beautiful Breck Girl." I find it interesting that Mona Lisa supposedly uses Breck shampoo. I always thought she used Dial soap to wash her stringy locks.

Not saying Rowan wasn't considered but he seems a little slow-paced for such a fast-moving game show. The original HS pilot starred Bert Parks and is on YouTube. A second pilot starred someone else but I've heard it was comedian Sandy Baron. Hard to imagine without Peter, though. Was such a good fit.
