LOOK BACK IN ILL. HISTORY: HOW JERI RYAN (SEXY 7 of 9 - STAR TREK VOYAGER) INADVERTENLY HELPED TO GET BLAGO ELECTED

JERI RYAN HELPED TO GET BLAGOJEVICH ELECTED.

(INADVERTENTLY)

The Office of the Illinois Governor did not have an incumbent Governor in 2002. George Ryan was the previous Governor, and he "chose" to not run for reelection. The reason for his "choice" was that he was going to be tried on corruption charges, and at a later date he was convicted of those same charges. The heir apparent was Jim Ryan, who was the Illinois Attorney General. Ryan was a qualified Republican candidate for Governor, who happened to have a bit of bad luck. First of all, he had the same last name (wasn't related) as the disgraced future-to-be ex-Governor, George Ryan. Jim was also the ex-husband of the INCREDIBLY sexy Jeri Ryan. Unfortunately for Jim Ryan, Jeri had made accusations in their divorce papers. She claimed that Jim Ryan wanted to take her to a sex club. It was a place where consenting married couples would go, in order to trade their married partner for another spouse. It was done for an evening's sexual pleasure, in order to spice up their sex lives. If that is true - who really cares? They were married. If they had visited the club, they would have been a consenting adult married couple, which should be NO BIG DEAL. It became a scandal in the eyes of the Illinois GOP.

Jim Ryan tried to keep the divorce papers sealed. He wasn't successful. Jeri Ryan even defended her ex-husband, and said that he would make a fine Governor, which he probably would have. The combined problems of the insignificant (in my opinion) sex scandal, along with the fact that he had the same last name as the disgraced Governor George Ryan, and was attempting to be elected to the same office that George Ryan held, had made him "dead-meat," politically speaking. The moron voters would see the name "Ryan" and assume that he was the "bad" Ryan. The GOP probably felt that the holier-than-thou voters would also see a politician with non-conforming sexual desires, and they would probably want to choose the other candidate.

The other candidate was:

BLAGO

AFTER 14 YEARS OF REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR JIM THOMPSON AND 8 YEARS OF GOVERNOR GEORGE RYAN - ILLINOIS NEEDED A CHANGE. NEEDED A CHANGE DESPERATELY.

In my opinion, if only Jim Ryan's bad luck had not surfaced, Blago probably never would have been elected Governor. Voters are true "morons." They will usually elect somebody who is tall, and has an easy to remember English / Irish name. Ryan was a tall politician, and Blago was not tall. Ryan had a typical Irish politician's name - Blagojevich was not Irish sounding. THE REPUBLICAN POWER BROKERS WERE LITTLE PANSIES - AFRAID OF A TINY SEX SCANDAL. Ryan still might have lost, but it would have been close.

After Ryan dropped out, the GOP tried desperately to find a replacement. They even tried Mike Ditka - he declined. The only choice was to get a CARPETBAGGER - a.k.a. Alan Keyes. In my very humble opinion - A GOOF BALL, EXTRAORDINAIRE. Alan lost big time, and rightly so. If the Illinois GOP had any guts, they should have stuck with Ryan.

ILLINOIS HAD A NEW GOVERNOR - ROD BLAGOJEVICH.

AS A SIDE NOTE: 3 out of the last 4 Illinois Governors have been convicted of a crime. Granted, I don't think that Blago should have been indicted. It isn't illegal to "TRADE" something of value for Obama's Senate seat. It is only illegal if money is exchanged, and he didn't do that, or even talk about doing that. That was the major crime that he was accused of. There was a mistrial on 23 of the 24 serious charges. He was convicted on lying to the Feds. The new trial will take place soon.

GEORGE RYAN'S CONVICTION: I think he was guilty. I also think his sentence was way out of line (I hated George Ryan as Governor.) The people of Illinois needed a scapegoat to pin the responsibility of the car accident deaths of the 6 children of Rev. Duane Willis, and his wife, Janet.

The car accident occurred because a trucker supposedly had an unsafe truck trailer, and he had received his license illegally. He supposedly received his license by bribing DMV employees, and then that money supposedly went into the campaign War Chest of SECRETARY OF STATE GEORGE RYAN. The problem was, Ryan didn't directly have any connection to the truck driver's illegal license, but he was sentenced like he did have that direct connection.

By the way, a truck driver usually doesn't have any control over safety issues on a trailer. The ultimate responsibility of an unsafe trailer would be the owner of the trailer, which normally is owned by a separate company than the owner of the truck tractor. The accident occurred because a broken part came off of the trailer, and that part flew into the car that the Willis family was traveling in.

Usually, a truck driver would drive his truck tractor trailer to a drop off location. He would drop the trailer, and then he would pick up a different trailer to haul to another location. He doesn't have ownership of the trailer, and he wouldn't have the ultimate responsibility of it's supposedly unsafe condition. THE OWNERS OF THE TRAILER SHOULD BE THE ONES WITH THE ULTIMATE RESPONSIBILITY.

STRETCHING the line of logic:

1) Trailer was supposedly unsafe, and a part flies off while it is being driven. The flying truck trailer part causes a deadly accident.

2) Driver of the truck was not legally competent to drive a semi truck. He had supposedly bribed DMV employees in order to get a license. He did not have any connection to the trailer that he was hauling. He did not have responsibility for the safety maintenace of the trailer.

3) George Ryan supposedly had arrangements with Illinois Secretary of State employees. Supposedly, bribes that were paid for an illegal CDL license would go into his campaign War Chest for Governor.

4) RULE OF DEEP POCKETS - Even if a person or company has a minor connection to an accident, they could still be the big loser economically, assuming that other persons or companies connected to an accident lack potential monetary resources.

5) George Ryan's people supposedly came up with what they supposedly thought was a great idea to raise money for an expensive campaign. Even tho it was illegal to sell truck driver licenses to unqualified drivers, George Ryan didn't have a DIRECT connection to a supposedly unsafe truck trailer, that an unqualified truck driver was hauling.

SIX & 1/2 YEARS IS ABOUT TWICE WHAT HE SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED. A SCAPEGOAT WAS NEEDED - GEORGE RYAN FILLED THE NEED.
